Canada Day is the perfect time to celebrate the True North with the people who matter most—your family! From backyard games to fireworks shows, there are countless ways to enjoy Canada Day 2025 with kids, teens, and adults alike.

Here’s a list of fun, easy, and memorable family-friendly Canada Day activities that everyone will love.

1. Dress Up in Red & White

Start the day by getting everyone into the Canada Day spirit!

  • Wear red and white outfits

  • Add face paint, temporary maple leaf tattoos, or themed accessories

  • Hold a mini “Canada Day fashion show” and vote for the most festive look

2. Canada Day Breakfast or Brunch

Make breakfast a celebration with a patriotic twist:

  • Pancakes topped with strawberries and whipped cream

  • Maple syrup (of course!)

  • Red and white cupcakes or fruit skewers

Let the kids help in the kitchen for some festive family fun.

3. DIY Canada Day Crafts

Craft time is great for all ages. Try:

  • Making Canadian flags out of popsicle sticks and paper

  • Creating paper maple leaf garlands

  • Decorating mason jars with red and white paint for centerpieces or lanterns

Tip:Set up a backyard “craft station” for even more interactive fun.

4. Backyard Party & Games

Turn your backyard into your own Canada Day festival!
Ideas include:

  • Water balloon toss

  • Sack races

  • Lawn bowling or bean bag toss

  • Canada Day scavenger hunt (hide red and white items around the yard)

5. Watch Fireworks Together

End the day with a bang!

  • Attend your local fireworks show if available

  • Bring snacks, blankets, and glow sticks for the kids

Bonus: Let the little ones enjoy safe alternatives like sparklers or LED lights.

 6. Learn a Little History

Make it fun and educational by talking about:

  • What Canada Day is and why we celebrate it

  • Fun facts about Canadian provinces and territories

  • Indigenous cultures and contributions

Read a children’s book about Canada, or quiz each other with some family trivia!

7. Send a Canada Day Greeting

Have your kids draw pictures or write letters to grandparents or friends to say Happy Canada Day.

You can even send Canada Day flower bouquets or gift baskets to loved ones who live far away.

8. Plan a Canada Day Picnic

Whether it’s in your backyard, local park, or living room floor:

  • Pack your favorite Canadian treats

  • Bring a frisbee, board game, or kite

  • Enjoy quality screen-free time together as a family
